The Quintessential #colinmorrisblunder, part 2
Read PART ONE
I spent the next hour draining my cell phone’s battery (I literally used about 80% in 60 minutes) trying to salvage the situation via SMS. It’s not that I prefer to text when a phone call would be appropriate, but I didn’t have Shannon’s number and I was constantly updating three conversations with new information every 15 seconds or so. I’ll post a...

The Quintessential #colinmorrisblunder, part 1
Read PART TWO
It seems whenever I’m in Chicago a project or series of tasks resembling daily life there presents itself. This is one of my favorite things about being the city because it keeps me from feeling like I’m just visiting on vacation.
In the rare case where no struggle presents itself, I unwittingly create one just to keep things interesting. Saturday night, I...

Same Old For Now
I’m going to New York City today to visit MC Mike, who will probably take me to cooler bars than we’ve been to together before. I’ve been so caught up in other stuff, like travel, spiders and crowd-sourced crisis management, I’ve hardly taken time to get excited about what an awesome trip this’ll be.
For better or for worse, I forgot my camera at Chava’s when I...

But
I’d talk to you in person or on the phone instead of through the internet, but a mysterious pain in the side of my tongue has made talking pretty unappealing for the last two days.
I’d be happy to finally have substantial recording gear within arm’s reach in my bedroom, but I’m too tapped from everything and can’t figure out Cubase.
I’d post a picture of all...

Crowd-Sourced Crisis Management
You may recall I recently found myself in a considerable pickle wherein I was Chicago-bound with no accommodations for my foreign travel companion. Her budget was limited by an ATM that ate her French credit card earlier in the week, and most hotels in the city were booked through the weekend. Hostels had been booked for weeks.
I am now relaxed and enjoying my vacation in my favorite place on the...

On Going Everywhere... Soon
I have worked harder and longer at music than anything in my life. There is in fact nothing to which I have applied myself with even comparable diligence. I’ve known it longer and more intimately than anyone reading this. Except maybe mother, in which case, thank you for cleaning the bathroom.
I play it down. I try not to blab about it to others, because to blab about my relationship with...

Dear Chicago: HALP
I should be pumped about a trip to Chicago, but instead I’m having a bit of a panic attack because I still haven’t found a place for my friend Vanessa to stay. Or she hasn’t found a place to stay. Can’t say she’s really tried . She doesn’t seem concerned. She also doesn’t seem to understand the prospect she’s facing, which is two nights of...

On Movement, And Being Everywhere At Once
We have a houseguest. I like this because it means I have a new shower curtain, and mother cleaned my bathroom even though I cleaned it just two days ago.
I came home very late tonight, caked in a layer of sweat that had dried on the way home from a concert, and took a shower. My shower is a floor-to-ceiling bathtub deal with an opaque curtain. When you’re in it, you have no way of knowing...

Exciting news. Stay tuned until I can hammer out the details. Thanks.

Are You Here For The Scalping?
I can’t sleep because of a relentless tickle in the back of my throat (#pause), so I’m sitting up with the windows wide open, breathing deep sips of some of the summer’s first muggy night air, coughing and moaning about the coughing. And yet this makes you my captive somehow.
I got up to go to the bathroom a few hours ago and noticed light creeping up the stairs from the touch...

Do You Want Free Fries With That? No? Have Some...
EB was in town last weekend and we decided to support some of our favorite Highland Square establishments. Actually it’s a bit of the tail wagging the dog to characterize Highland Square businesses as such charity cases: Two matinee tickets at the Highland Theater cost $10, and delicious sandwiches a few doors down at @MrZubs (more info from Yelp) only cost $8.25 with the Vitamin Water we...

This Will Solve Everything
I have filtered water at home. There’s one of those filtered pitcher things in the fridge, and a filtered dispenser on the door for filtered water emergencies.
Pretty much the only drinking water scenario in the house that’s straight from the tap is in my bathroom upstairs. I have a cup there for rinsing my mouth when I brush my teeth and for swallowing the pills and whatnot.
I...

Sometimes I wish I’d been more of a man in high school. But then I suppose things would have been even harder, being a grown man stuck in high school and all.
Unless it were like 21 Jump Street, though something tells me no.

Al Pacino Makes Me Woozy
EB came up a day earlier than planned for this weekend’s visit after I sold my Yeasayer ticket (thoughts on that to come). In the few hours between making those arrangements and her arrival, I came down with this intense, flu-like body ache. There was no fever or other symptoms, just a throbbing from head to toe that made me feel like someone was ripping Band-Aids off every part of my body....

Ah, the pocket dial. Haven’t had one in a while. Nice.
