Akron METRO Depot So Groovy, Kent To Follow Suit
Peep this. Portage County, home to Kent, Ohio and its namesake state university, will receive $20 million in federal stimulus dollars to build a multi-modal transit facility much like the one in Akron, which allows you to monitor the energy it’s drawing from its solar panels on its nifty Web page.
This is awesome news. It’d be a lot cooler if I weren’t going to graduate before it’s likely to be completed, but hey. I’ll drink to progress.
I’m particularly sensitive to needed improvements in public transit between Akron and Kent today because I took the one bus route connecting them to get here. I should say that my ride was uneventful and timely and the bus was actually crowded. Very encouraging.
