I was sent home from work early today and told to stay home for the rest of the week. Anyone could tell there were too many cooks in the kitchen.
I don’t blame anyone, and anger’s not on the list of emotions I’m feeling. But it’s more than just a bummer and some down time: my cell phone, car payment and insurance left three dollars in my checking account this month — and that’s with an extra music gig two nights ago.
Barely in the black. I know, I know. Join the club, right?
I did. Unsure of how to react and too preoccupied to catch up on homework, I drove straight from the office to the METRO transit center and boarded the closest city bus. I rode three buses with people far worse off than I am, which always brings things into perspective.
